TRANSFER STATION

The Transfer Station is a Town of Dover owned and operated facility for the receipt and disposal of household garbage and recyclables. It was opened in 1991 to provide residents with an inexpensive alternative to home refuse collection by commercial carters.

Location: The Transfer Station is located adjacent to the Town Hall at 126 East Duncan Hill Road, Dover Plains, New York 12522

Hours: Transfer Station Hours are 8:00am to 2:00pm every Saturday. Additional summer hours for the months of July, August and September are from 3:00pm to 7:00pm every Thursday.

Membership: Annual $50.00 fee plus $3.00 per 33 gallon garbage bag. There is no charge to members for the disposal of sorted recyclables. You may apply for membership at the Transfer Station during operating hours, at the Town Hall from 8:00am to 4:00pm Monday thru Friday, or by mail.

Garbage: The transfer station is licensed by the NY State Dept of Environmental Conservation to handle household waste and recyclables only – no commercial or industrial waste will be accepted. Garbage should be in 33 gal size plastic bags, with the recyclables listed below removed.

Recyclables: Please sort the following items from your garbage:

2. Magazines

3. Corrugated cardboard (flattened, dry & clean)

CAN BE MIXED TOGETHER

*4. Metal food cans (steel and aluminum)

*5. Plastic containers (#1 and #2 ONLY) (Containers marked #3 through #7 should be included with your garbage.

*6. Glass food container

*Items #4, 5, & 6 may be mixed together. Other items should be separated

Please clean/wash containers for recycling.
